Adults and children over 12 years of age:-

Male 8mg orally once a day

Female: 18 mg orally once a day

Pregnant female: 27mg orally once a day

Lactating female: 9mg orally once a day

Adults over 50 years old: 8mg orally once a day

Children 8-12 years old: 8mg orally once a day

Children 3-8 years old: 10mg orally once a day

Children 1-3 years old: 7mg orally once a day

Children 7-12 months old: 11mg orally once a day

Children 0-6 months old: 0.27mg orally once a day (adequate intake)

Iron deficiency anemia

Adult: 300 mg orally at every 12 hours, might be increased to 300 mg at every 6 hours or 250 mg ER orally at every 12 hours

Serve iron deficiency anemia, pediatric: 4-6 mg/kg orally divided at every 8 hours

Mild to moderate iron-deficiency anemia, pediatric: 3mg/kg orally once a day or divided at every 12 hours

Prophylaxis of Iron deficiency

Adult: 300mg orally once a day

Pediatric: 1-2 mg/kg orally or 15 mg orally maximum
