Gliclazide 80 MG & Metformin Hcl 500 MG (PDGIDE-M)

It is an oral diabetes medicine that helps to control blood sugar levels. Metformin is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication sometimes used together with insulin or other medications but it is not treating type 1 diabetes.

Gliclazide is used in concurrence with exercise and diet regimens to control high blood sugar in non-insulin-dependent diabetic patients. Controlling high blood sugar helps to prevents strokes, heart disease, kidney disease, circulation problems, and blindness.

This medication is used to decrease hepatic(liver) glucose production, to decrease GI glucose absorption, and also to increase target cell insulin sensitivity.

This medication is a treatment indicated as an adjunct to diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes such as weight loss to improve glycemic(blood sugar) which controls in adults with type 2 diabetes. Many patients with type 2 diabetes will eventually require to take insulin by injection. Metformin does not cause weight gain.

• Stomach upset or diarrhea

• Headache
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Stomach pain

• Skin rash
• Easy bruising or bleeding
• Itching
• Fever
• Weakness
• Trembling or chills while taking this medicine
• This medicine causes low blood sugar which is recognized as hypoglycemia which manifests as drowsiness, headache, weakness, sweating, shaking, nervousness, tingling of hands or feet, hunger, fast heartbeat.
• To get immediate help for the above symptoms drink a glass of orange juice or non-diet soda or eat a piece of candy to raise your blood sugar level promptly. You are required to report this incident to your doctor in order to prevent low blood sugar, eat meals on a regular schedule, and do not skip meals.
• Some symptoms of high blood sugar known as hyperglycemia include drowsiness, flushing, rapid breathing, confusion, fruity breath odor. Please notify your doctor about these symptoms.

Some people are using metformin to develop lactic acidosis which can be fatal. Get emergency help if you have any mild signs of the listed side effects:-

• Feeling dizzy, light-headed, very weak, or tired

• Unusual muscle pain
