Levocetirizine 5 MG & Montelukast 10 MG (LEHU-M)

Montelukast is a leukotriene(loo-kee-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotriene is the chemicals of your body releases when you puff an allergen(such as pollen). These chemicals object to swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms.

Montelukast is a prescription drug and it comes in a tablet that can be swallowed as a whole, or as a chewable tablet. It is also available in the form of granules which can be dissolved in liquid or soft food.

Levocetirizine is used to treat the symptoms of allergic conditions which include hay fever, allergic rhinitis, including a runny, itchy nose, and sneezing. It turns down the effects of the natural chemical histamine. The other benefits are the treatment of eczema(atopic dermatitis) and chronic hives(urticaria).

Montelukast oral tablet is used to cure and prevent asthma. This medication is used to treat seasonal and year-round allergies.

Montelukast is also used to prevent exercise which includes bronchoconstriction(EIB). EIB appears when the airways in the lungs narrow during or after exercise. This could cause shortness of breath, cough, or wheezing.

You must not use levocetirizine if you are allergic to levocetirizine or cetirizine(Zyrtec) and at the same time, you must not take levocetirizine if you have end-stage kidney disease or if you are on dialysis. Any child younger than 12 years who are having dialysis disease must not take levocetirizine. You need to tell your doctor if you ever had the following problems:-

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Urination problems are caused by conditions such as enlarged prostate or spinal cord lesion
• Gallbladder problems
• Levocetirizine is not good medicine for an unborn baby. It is necessary for you to tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
• You are not allowed to breast-feed while using this medicine
• This medicine is not suitable for anyone who is younger than 6 months old.

Side effects of Levocetirizine:-

Get emergency help if you have signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling on your face, tongue, lips, or throat difficulty breathing, and hives.

Stop using levocetirizine and call your doctor immediately if you have the following reactions:-

• Painful or difficult urination
• Worsening allergy or urticaria symptoms
• Little or no urination
• Fever

Some signs of ear infection such as ear pain or full feeling, trouble hearing, drainage from the ear, fussiness in a child.

Other common side effects might include:-

• Sinus pain
• Tiredness, drowsiness
• Ear infection
• Cough
• Fever
• Nosebleed
• Dry mouth
• Vomiting, diarrhea, constipation
• Weight gain

Side effects of Montelukast:-

• Get emergency medical help if you are experiencing any signs of an allergic reaction(hives, swelling in your face or throat, difficulty breathing) or a serve skin reaction(fever, burning eyes, sore throat, skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).
• You need to tell your doctor straight away if you have any signs of blood vessel inflammation which are flu-like symptoms, skin rash, feeling weak or tired, tingling or numbness in your arms or legs, serve sinus pain.
• Some serious symptoms of serious side effects include sleepwalking, feeling anxious, bad or vivid dreams, agitation, restlessness, tremor, suicidal sleeping, suicidal thoughts or actions, hallucinations(seeing or hearing things that aren’t really there).

Some common side effects are as follow:-

• Diarrhea, stomach pain
• Fever or other flu symptoms
• Headache
• Ear pain or full feeling, trouble hearing
• Cold symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, sinus pain, cough, or sore throat.
