Loratadine belongs to the group of medicines known as antihistamines which is an anti-allergy medicine. It helps to terminate the effects of a naturally occurring substance called histamine and this helps to relieve the symptoms of allergies such as hay fever and urticaria, watery eyes, and runny nose.

It is also used to treat sneezing, skin rash, hives, itching, runny nose, and other cold or allergy symptoms. Loratadine is also used to treat itching and skin hives in people with chronic skin reactions.

 

  • Keep the tablet in its blister pack before you are ready to take the medicine. Open the package and peel out the foil. Do not try to push a tablet through the foil or you might damage the tablet.
  • Always use dry hands to remove the tablet and directly place it in your mouth.
  • Do not swallow the tablet as a whole. Allow it to dissolve in your mouth without chew it. If required, you might drink liquid to help the medicine to swallow it properly.
