Orlistat 120 MG (Alu Alu) (REDOSE-120)

• If your doctor has prescribed this medicine, read all the patient information leaflet that is available from your pharmacist before you start taking orlistat. Take this medicine as directed by your doctor, by mouth with liquid sometime during each meal that consists of fat or within 1 hour after the meal, usually 3 times daily.
• If you miss a meal or a meal does not contain fats, skip that dose of the medication. To decrease the chances of unpleasant side effects, it is essentially no more than 30% of calories in your diet come from fat. You can take daily intake of fat, protein, and carbohydrates must be partially spread over 3 main meals.
• Do not increase your dose or use this medicine often or for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve within less time, and your risk of side effects will increase.

Some of the side effects of Orlistat are as follow:-

• Changes in bowel function arise because of unabsorbed fat.
• Fatty/oily stool, oily spotting, intestinal gas with discharge, a feeling of needing to have a bowel movement straight away, increased number of bowel movements, or poor bowel control may occur. These side effects may get worse if you eat more fat than you should and if these side effects worsen notify your doctor immediately.

Various people are using this medicine does not have any serious side effects, but if rare side effects occur tell your doctor promptly:

• Symptoms of liver disease(such as persistent vomiting/nausea),
• Serve abdominal/stomach pain
• Dark urine
• Yellowing skin/eyes

Symptoms of kidney stones(such as back pain, pain when urinating, bloody/pink urine).

• A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is very uncommon. Hence, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including swelling/itching (especially of the face/throat/tongue)
• Serve dizziness
• Trouble breathing
• Rashes

Before taking orlistat tell your doctor if you are allergic to it, or any other kind of allergies. Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of a certain digestive problem (chronic malabsorption syndrome)

• A ceratin gall bladder problem(cholestasis)
• An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
• Kidney stones problems such as calcium oxalate kidney stone, hyperoxaluria
• Certain eating disorders (anorexia nervosa/bulimia)
• HIV infection
• Seizures
• If you are diabetic, weight loss may improve your blood sugar control so check your blood sugar regularly and tell your doctor the results. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, diet, and exercise program.

• Drug interaction may vary how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. Get together all the products you use including prescriptions/nonprescription drugs and herbal products and share them with your doctor and pharmacist. Try not to stop, start, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.
• Some products that might interact with this include blood thinners such as warfarin, HIV medications such as atazanavir, efavirenz, lopinavir, emtricitabine, ritonavir, tenofovir.
• If you are taking medication to cure the problem of seizures, orlistat might cause these drugs to not work as well. Stop taking orlistat and tell your doctor straight away if your seizures are happening more often or are getting worse.
