It belongs to a class of drugs recognized as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs). NSAIDs help to reduce pain, inflammation, and severe.

NSAIDs might help to reduce swelling by lowering levels of prostaglandin, a hormone-like substance that usually causes inflammation.

This medicine cause side effects which include:-

Piroxicam injection can interact with other medications, herbs, and vitamins you are already taking. An interaction is when a substance changes the way of drug work. This might be harmful or prevent the drug from working well.

To avoid interactions, tell your doctor all about medications, vitamins, or herbs you are taking. The examples of drugs that can cause interactions with piroxicam are mentioned below:-

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Taking Piroxicam with other NSAIDs might increase side effects include stomach pain. Examples of NSAIDs are:-

Ibuprofen

Aspirin

Disease-modifying anti-inflammatory drug

Taking methotrexate with piroxicam can cause dangerous levels of methotrexate in your body. This might cause side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, mouth sires, fever, nausea, and hair loss.

Blood pressure drugs

Taking certain blood pressure drugs with piroxicam may make those drugs not working as well. Examples of these drugs are:-

Angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitors

Diuretics(water pills)

Anticoagulant/blood thinner

Taking warfarin with piroxicam increases the risk of your stomach and intestinal bleeding

If you are experiencing any of these side effects, call in emergency immediately.

Do not take this drug again if you ever had an allergic reaction to it.

For people with asthma:- Piroxicam can cause an asthma attack or if you have asthma that can be triggered by aspirin, you should not use piroxicam it might have the same effect as aspirin.

For people with ulcer or stomach bleeding

This medicine increases the risk of stomach or intestinal bleeding. If you have a history of ulcers or stomach or intestinal bleeding and take piroxicam, watch for symptoms which are stomach pain, black tarry stools, and vomiting blood.

For people with kidney disease

Piroxicam can cause kidney damage if you use it for a long time, and if you have serious kidney damage, you should not use this drug.

For people with high blood pressure

Piroxicam can cause high blood pressure or make your high blood pressure worsen. You might need to check your blood pressure level often while the intake of piroxicam.

Warning for other people

For seniors

If you are older than 65, your body might process this drug very slowly. Your doctor might start you on a lowered dosage so that too much of this drug will not build up in your body. The too much drug in your body is dangerous.

For children

The safety and effectiveness of piroxicam have not been established in children younger than 18 years.
